Here are a few of tactics and a brief description that can be used in challenges and daily game-play.

PLAYER TACTICS:

TRIPWIRE - Placing a single unit, usually a Jav or Scout, in a player's city in order to receive a report should something occur in that city.

TRAP CITY -  A mid-level player would attack and draw in an attack on their city. Several players would place defense into this city in order to catch the enemy off guard. They will encounter a heavily defended city and we smash their attack forces.

*We use a mid-level city so that an adversary wouldn't think twice about attacking due to thinking it's an easy target.

MUTI PLAYER ATTACK -  When you have one player send a raid. Another player will synchronize their siege to hit shortly after the raid hits for maximum effect.

**You may also add in a Political attack to hit before the raid and siege for maximum results.)

Once siege is in place it can then be reinforced if planning to hold for a long period of time.

SOFTENING TARGETS -  This involves a player to send a Political attack just seconds before another players raid hits. Timing is essential. This maneuver weakens city defenses to give the raider maximum hitting power.

MULI PLAYER RAIDS -  This involves several players sending offensive units to one city. That one player will then use three armies to attack a much stronger target.

HERO WALL - (This is another form of a trap) This involves getting many players to send ALL their Heroes to one city. During challenges these Heroes will give the defender points while the attacker gets very little to no points for defeating the Heroes.

Game strategies for players:

To Siege the enemy is to forcibly place troops in their City, killing whatever troops they had left outside the Acropolis. A siege has three primary effects in the game. First, it changes the graphic of the City to indicate it has been claimed by you and some individuals want nothing more than to plaster their name over the entire map. Sieging will net you points toward the second reason for sieging Cities and that is the Siege Rankings and a chance to win drachmas, each week. Finally, you may make Protectorates of up to three sieged cities which reduces their gross production of Timber or Bronze by 25% and allows you to siphon off some of those resources for your own personal use. Note however that sieging an enemy City has no other affect. In other words, you will not be preventing them from raiding, collecting resources or performing upgrades. In some cases your would-be victim may actually prefer your siege of their City as a makeshift means of protection from other enemies.

If your City has been sieged, you may choose to liberate it yourself instantly, presuming you have the strength to do so, or you may have a friend do it for you. Liberating Cities is an Achievement so you may indeed have a total stranger liberate you just for the credit of doing so. In any case, if you are liberating someone make sure you do so with Offense units as you will be the attacker and the occupier will be the defender.

Sieging can be performed in three (3) ways:

1. From the Map:

Click «Map» in your City.

Hover the mouse over the City you want to Siege.

Choose «Besiege» on the City menu.

Sieging other Cities allows you to prove your dominance over your rivals, place in the Siege and Tribute rankings and seize a percentage of your enemy's resource production. The Top 10 players in the weekly Sieges and Tribute rankings may also earn Drachmas for holding their rank. Sieging a City won't automatically make a protectorate out of the City. That is a choice you make after you put the siege in place. Once made into a Protectorate, those Cities will offer you a percentage of either Timber or Bronze, as you choose.

To make a Protectorate of a City you have Sieged:

Go to the War Council

Open the Garrisons tab

Select the Resource type you want to collect from the Sieged City.

The Positions tab displays the following information:

All current sieged Colonies and Protectorates

The amount of Resources currently ready for collection

   Time remaining until next collection

Time remaining until the Colony's or Protectorate's storage is full

Number and type of Troops at each Colony.

To collect all resources accumulated in an Protectorate, click "Collect" when the button is active
